  • Date of Notification: The Examination Notice was issued on 05th March, 2025.
  • Last Date for Submission of Applications: The last date to fill and submit the online application is 25th March, 2025, up to 18:00 Hours. After this time, the application link will be disabled.
  • Closure of “Pay by Cash” mode: If you choose to pay the application fee in cash, the “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23:59 hours on 24th March, 2025. Common Eligibility Criteria

General Selection Process


Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2025, is as follows:

Written Examination:

    • This will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 03rd August, 2025.
    • It will comprise two papers held on the same day:
      • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence250 Marks
        • Objective (Multiple Answers) Type questions.
        • Questions will be set in both English and Hindi.
      • Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension200 Marks
        • Candidates have the option to write the Essay Component in either English or Hindi.
        • The medium for Precis Writing, Comprehension Components, and other communications/language skills will be English only.
        • Candidates must indicate the medium of the Essay Component in the Attendance Lists and on the Answer Book. No credit will be given if the indicated medium does not match the language used for the essay.
    • There will be minimum qualifying marks separately in each Paper as decided by the Commission.
    • Paper I will be evaluated first, and only those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Paper I will have their Paper II evaluated.
    • There will be a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers in the Objective Type Question Paper (Paper I). One-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer. No penalty for unanswered questions.

Physical Standards Tests/Physical Efficiency Tests:

    • Candidates who are declared qualified in the written examination will be called for these tests.
    • Candidates must meet the prescribed Physical Standards as specified in Appendix-V. (We discussed some of these standards in our previous turn [regarding height, chest, and weight]).
    • Those who meet the physical standards will then undergo Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) as indicated below:
      • For Males:
        • 100 Meters race: In 16 seconds
        • 800 Meters race: In 3 minutes 45 seconds
        • Long Jump: 3.5 Meters (3 chances)
        • Shot Put (7.26 Kgs.): 4.5 Meters (3 chances)
      • For Females:
        • 100 Meters race: In 18 seconds
        • 800 Meters race: In 4 minutes 45 seconds
        • Long Jump: 3.0 meters (3 chances)
        • Shot Put: Not applicable
    • Female candidates will need to submit a self-declaration about their pregnancy status upon reporting for PST/PET. Specific procedures are outlined for pregnant candidates.
    • The Physical Standards Tests/Physical Efficiency Tests will be conducted under the supervision of a Nodal Authority appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs at various notified centers.

Interview/Personality Test:

    • Candidates who are declared qualified in the Physical Standards Tests (PST) /Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) will be called for an Interview/Personality Test conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

How to Apply for Application


Apply Online Only:

Candidates are required to apply online only. No other mode of application is allowed. The online application can be accessed through the website https://upsconline.gov.in.

  • One Time Registration (OTR):
    • It is essential for all applicants to first register themselves on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform available on the Commission’s website.
    • OTR has to be registered only once in a lifetime and can be done anytime throughout the year.
    • If you are already registered, you can proceed directly to filling up the online application for the examination.
  • Filling the Online Application Form: After OTR registration (or logging in if already registered), proceed to fill the online application form for the examination. The online application process involves completing different stages. The application can be filled from 05th March, 2025 to 25th March, 2025 till 18:00 Hours.

Modification in OTR Profile (Registration):

    • Changes to your OTR profile are allowed only once in a lifetime after the initial registration.
    • The option to change OTR profile data is available until expiry of 07 days from the next day after the closure of the application window of your first final application for any UPSC examination.
    • Certain entries like Have you ever changed name?, Gender, Minority Status, and Class 10th Board Examination Roll No. are editable until the final submission of the application and during the correction window.
    • You are not allowed to change entries like Name (as per Class X), Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Mobile Number, and Email ID in the OTR profile. However, there are specific procedures for changing Mobile Number or Email ID if you’ve lost access to one but have access to the other (involving OTP verification). If you’ve lost access to both, you need to send a request to the Commission (otr-upsc@gov.in) along with specified documents.
    • If your name has changed and doesn’t match your matriculation or higher education certificates, you need to submit a Gazette Notification. If it’s not currently available, you may upload it after the declaration of the written exam result.
    • Candidates with an Integrated Master’s Degree can fill the same course in both Graduation and higher qualification columns.
    • You are advised to carefully review all entries before final submission.

Modification in Application Form (Other than OTR Profile):

    • The Commission provides a correction window of 07 days from the day after the application window closes (i.e., from 26.03.2025 to 01.04.2025) to make corrections in any field of the finally submitted online application form (excluding the non-editable OTR profile fields mentioned above).
    • If you need to change your OTR profile during this period, you must log in to the OTR platform separately.

    • Your name and the date on which the photograph was taken must be clearly mentioned on the photograph.
    • Your face should occupy 3/4th of the space in the photograph.
    • Ensure your appearance matches the photograph at all stages of the examination (Written and Interview/Personality Test). For example, if you upload a bearded photograph, you must appear with the same look.
  • Payment of Fee:
    • Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/-.

Application Fee


  • General/OBC/EWS candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only).
  • The fee can be paid through the following modes:
    • Remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India (SBI). Applicants opting for “Pay by Cash” should print the system-generated Pay-in-slip during Part II registration and deposit the fee at the SBI counter on the next working day. The “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23:59 hours of 24.03.2025.
    • Using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment.
    • Using Internet Banking of any Bank.
  • All female candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) are exempted from payment of any fee.
  • No fee exemption is available to OBC/EWS candidates, and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
  • Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances, nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination.

Age Criteria:

  • A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years on 1st August, 2025.

  • There are upper age limit relaxations for certain categories:
    • Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates: up to a maximum of five years.
    • Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation: up to a maximum of three years.
    • Civilian Central Government Servants: up to a maximum of five years in accordance with existing instructions. Ex-Servicemen are also eligible for this relaxation, but the total relaxation claimed on account of Government Service will be limited to five years. The term “Civilian Central Government Servants” applies to persons defined as “Government Servants” in the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965.
  • Cumulative Age Relaxation: Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC who are also covered under the Civilian Central Government Servants/Ex-Servicemen categories will be eligible for cumulative age-relaxation under both categories.
  • Ex-Servicemen: The term ex-servicemen is defined in the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Service and Posts) Rules, 1979, as amended. Candidates working in the Armed Forces become eligible to apply for civil posts only when they complete the prescribed period of Armed Forces Service within a year from the last date of receiving applications.
