NDA & NA Examination (II), 2025 – Important Dates

  • Application Start Date: May 28, 2025
  • Last Date to Apply: June 17, 2025 (till 11:59 PM)
  • Helpline Active From: May 28 to June 17, 2025 (10:00 AM – 5:30 PM on working days)
  • e-Admit Card Release: About 1 week before the exam date
  • Written Exam Result: Expected in October 2025
  • SSB Interview: Likely between December 2025 and January 2026
  • Last Date to Submit 12th Pass Certificate: June 10, 2026

Total Number of Seats


The total approximate number of vacancies to be filled through the NDA & NA Examination (II), 2025, is 406. These are provisional and subject to change based on training capacity.

Break-up of vacancies:

  • National Defence Academy (NDA):
    • Army: 208 (including 10 for female candidates)
    • Navy: 42 (including 05 for female candidates)
    • Air Force:
      • Flying Branch: 92 (including 02 for female candidates)
      • Ground Duties (Technical): 18 (including 02 for female candidates)
      • Ground Duties (Non-Technical): 10 (including 02 for female candidates)
  • Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme): 36 (including 04 for female candidates)

Note: The preparation of written results and final merit lists for male and female candidates will be done separately based on the respective notified vacancies.

Common Eligibility Criteria


NDA & NA Examination (II), 2025 – Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality:
    • Must be an unmarried male or female citizen of India.
    • Also eligible: subjects of Nepal or persons of Indian origin from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries intending permanent settlement in India.
    • Certificate of eligibility required (except for Gorkha subjects of Nepal).
  • Age Limit & Marital Status:
    • Born between January 1, 2007, and January 1, 2010.
    • Must remain unmarried until completion of training.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Army Wing: 12th pass (10+2 pattern).
    • Air Force & Naval Wings / Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry): 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
    • 12th appearing candidates can apply but must pass by June 10, 2026.
    • 11th class students are not eligible.
  • Physical Standards:
    • Must be physically and mentally fit as per prescribed standards.
    • Self-check recommended to avoid medical rejection later.
  • Other Conditions:
    • Not eligible if resigned/withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from Armed Forces academies.
    • Those withdrawn on medical grounds or voluntarily may apply if otherwise eligible.
    • Debarred candidates by the Ministry of Defence are not eligible.

General Selection Process


NDA & NA (II), 2025 – Selection Process

  1. Written Examination (900 Marks)
    • Conducted by UPSC.
    • Mathematics: 300 marks
    • General Ability Test (GAT): 600 marks
    • Objective type with negative marking.
    • Use black ball pen on OMR sheet.
    • Result likely in October 2025.
  2. SSB Interview (900 Marks)
    • Stage I: OIR tests + PP&DT
    • Stage II: Interview, Group Tasks, Psychology Tests & Conference (over 4 days)
    • For Air Force: CPSS also required.
    • First-time SSB candidates eligible for TA (Travelling Allowance).
    • Interview likely between Dec 2025 – Jan 2026.
    • Qualified candidates must register at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  3. Medical Examination
    • Conducted by a Special Medical Board (SMB).
    • Must meet physical & mental fitness standards.
    • Unfit candidates may request an Appeal Medical Board (AMB).
  4. Final Merit List & Allocation
    • Combined score of Written + SSB (out of 1800 marks).
    • Allocation based on merit, medical fitness, preferences, and vacancies.
    • Separate merit lists for male and female candidates.
    • Selection does not guarantee admission; final approval lies with the appointing authority.

How to Apply for NDA & NA Examination (II), 2025

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

Step 2: Registration

  • Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”.
  • Select Part-I Registration for NDA & NA Examination (II), 2025.
  • Fill in basic details:
    • Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, Mobile Number, etc.
    • Choose your preferences for Army, Navy, Air Force, or Naval Academy.
  • Submit and note down your Registration ID.

Step 3: Part-II Registration

  • Log in using the Registration ID and date of birth.
  • Complete the following:
    • Payment of Fees (if applicable)
      • ₹100 for general/OBC (free for SC/ST/female candidates)
      • Pay via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or SBI Challan
    • Selection of Exam Centre
    • Upload Documents:
      • Photograph
      • Signature
      • Photo ID proof (Aadhaar/Voter ID/PAN/Passport/etc.)
    • Agree to declaration and submit.

Step 4: Download Application & Confirmation

  • After submission, download and print the application form for your records.
  • Keep the confirmation email and SMS for future reference.

If needed, use the UPSC Helpline (10 AM – 5:30 PM, on working days) during the application window.

Application Fee


  • ₹100 is the fee for General and OBC candidates.
  • Exempted from fee:
    • SC/ST candidates
    • Female candidates
    • Wards of serving/ex-JCOs/NCOs/ORs studying in Military/Sainik Schools
  • Payment modes: Online via Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or Net Banking only.
  • No refunds under any circumstances.
  • OBC candidates must pay full fee (no exemption).

Age Criteria

  • Candidates must be unmarried male or female.
  • Must be born between 01 January 2007 and 01 January 2010 (both dates inclusive).
  • Date of birth must match the Matriculation/Secondary Certificate.
  • No change in date of birth allowed after application.
