Overview of the Notification
Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) invites online applications from eligible candidates for filling up 400 Local Bank Officers vacancies in JMGS – I. Applications should be submitted on the website of the bank i.e., www.iob.in from 12.05.2025 to 31.05.2025. An essential qualification of the candidate is compulsory language ability in the local language of the state, where the shortlisted candidates would be assigned to serve. The shortlisting is done through an Online Examination, a Language Proficiency Test (LPT), and a Personal Interview. The candidates shortlisted in the online exam and LPT will be invited for the interview, and the selection is made based on a weighted score from the Online Examination and Personal Interview with a weightage ratio of 80:20 respectively. Application fee is INR 175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates and INR 850 for GEN/EWS/OBC candidates.

📄 OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate Requirements:
- Must be valid as on the date of Personal Interview (if called for).
- Must also be valid as on the last date of online registration, i.e., 31.05.2025.
- Certificate should be issued on or after 31.05.2024 (i.e., within one year prior to the date of Personal Interview).

Common Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality/Citizenship:
- Indian citizens or:
- Subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (before 01.01.1962), or PIO from select countries intending permanent settlement in India.
- Non-Indian citizens must have a Govt. of India eligibility certificate before notification date.
- Educational Qualification (as on 01.05.2025):
- Graduate Degree in any discipline from a Govt.-recognized university.
- Must have valid mark sheet/certificate at time of registration.
- Percentage of marks must be entered during online application.
- Language Proficiency:
- Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the local language of the applied state.
- LPT (Language Proficiency Test) will be conducted unless local language studied in 10th/12th with proof.
- Other Key Criteria:
- Apply for only one state (last application considered if multiple submitted).
- Minimum CIBIL score: 650 at the time of joining.
- Caste/category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) must be in the prescribed format and valid.
- OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued within 1 year before 31.05.2025 and valid as on 31.05.2025.
- Serving Govt./PSU employees must produce NOC at the time of the interview.
- Must produce originals & self-attested photocopies of all documents at the Personal Interview.
- False/incomplete information or ineligibility at any stage leads to cancellation of candidature.
General Selection Process
- Online Examination
- 4 Sections | 140 Questions | 200 Marks | 3 Hours
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: 30 Qs | 60 Marks
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness: 40 Qs | 40 Marks
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: 30 Qs | 60 Marks
- English Knowledge: 40 Qs | 40 Marks
- Language: English & Hindi (except English section).
- Sectional Qualifying Marks: 30% (Reserved), 35% (Unreserved).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 mark for each wrong answer.
- Bank may modify the exam structure.
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
- Mandatory test in the local language (reading, writing, speaking).
- Failure leads to disqualification.
- Exempted if local language studied in 10th or 12th with proof.
- Personal Interview
- Based on merit in the Online Exam and LPT (if applicable).
- May be conducted physically or via video conference.
- Candidates must present original documents for verification.
- Final Selection
- Based on combined score:
- Online Exam: 80%
- Personal Interview: 20%
- Selection done State-wise and Category-wise from top-ranking candidates.
- Subject to medical fitness, and document verification.

Application Fee
- The application process requires the payment of a non-refundable Application Fee / Intimation Charges.
- The fee structure is as follows, inclusive of GST:
- SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates are required to pay INR 175/- (Rupees One Hundred Seventy-Five Only). This is referred to as Intimation charges only.
- GEN/ EWS/ OBC candidates are required to pay INR 850/- (Rupees Eight Hundred and Fifty Only).
- The payment must be made online.
- Payment can be made using Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, BHIM, or UPI.
- The payment window is from 12.05.2025 to 31.05.2025.
- The fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances, nor can it be adjusted against any other recruitment process.
Age Criteria:
- The cut-off date for determining eligibility in age is 01.05.2025.
- Candidates must have been born not later than 01.05.2005 and not earlier than 02.05.1995 (both days inclusive).
- This translates to a minimum age of 20 years and a maximum age of 30 years.
- The maximum age limit of 30 years is applicable to General Category candidates and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category candidates.
Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:
Relaxations in the upper age limit are available for specific categories:
- Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Candidates: 5 years
- Other Backward Classes Candidates (Non – Creamy Layer): 3 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
- Persons affected by 1984 riots: 5 years
- Eligible Ex-servicemen, Commissioned Officers, including Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs) / Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) who meet specific criteria: 5 years. There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in the Officer’s Cadre, but age relaxation applies.
Cumulative Age Relaxation:
- If a candidate is eligible for relaxation under more than one category, the age relaxation will be available on a cumulative basis with any one of the other permitted categories.
- This cumulative age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates is subject to a maximum upper age limit of 50 years.
- These relaxations are available only if the candidates fulfill the conditions prescribed by the Government of India.
- Candidates belonging to OBC category but coming under the creamy layer or whose caste is not in the Central List are not entitled to OBC reservation and should indicate their category as General in the online application.
- To claim age relaxation, candidates should submit a copy of the necessary certificates at the time of the Personal Interview.
