Overview of the Notification
The Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Home Affairs, has released a recruitment notification inviting online applications for 760 posts of Junior Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Tech (JIO-II/Tech). Successful candidates will be placed at a Pay Scale of Level 4 (Rs. 25,500-81,100). Applicants with a Diploma in Engineering, a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with relevant subjects), or a Bachelor’s in Computer Applications are eligible to apply. The age limit for applicants is between 18 and 27 years, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories. The last date to submit the online application is 14.09.2025.

Common Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for JIO-II/Tech:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications from a Government recognized University/Institute:
- Diploma in Engineering in Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Applications.
- OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
- OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Applications.
Note: The final results must be declared on or before the closing date of 14.09.2025. Candidates whose results are awaited are not eligible to apply.
- Age Limit:
- Between 18-27 years as of the closing date (14.09.2025).
- Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for the following categories:
- By 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- By 3 years for OBC candidates.
- Up to 40 years for departmental candidates with 3 years of regular service.
- Up to 35 years for UR, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST in the case of widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from their husbands and not remarried.
- As per government rules for Ex-servicemen (ESM).
- Up to a maximum of 5 years for meritorious sportspersons.
- Note for PwBD Candidates: The post of JIO-II/Tech is not identified as suitable for any category of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs), and therefore, they need not apply.
General Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be based on a three-tier examination process followed by Character & Antecedent verification and a medical examination. The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III.
- Tier-I: Online Examination
- This will be an objective-type MCQ-based exam with 100 questions for a total of 100 marks.
- The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
- There will be a negative marking of 1/4 mark for each incorrect answer.
- The minimum cut-off marks are: UR-35, OBC-34, SC/ST-33, EWS-35.
Tier-I Exam Syllabus
Subject Weightage General Mental Ability 25% Combination of subjects as per essential qualifications 75% - Tier-II: Skill Test
- This test will be practical-based and technical in nature, commensurate with the job profile.
- It will carry a total of 30 marks.
- Tier-III: Interview/Personality Test
- This will assess the candidate’s suitability for the role.
- It will carry a total of 20 marks.
- Resolution of Tie Cases: If there is a tie in the final scores, it will be resolved by comparing, in order: (a) Marks in Tier-I, (b) Marks in Tier-II, (c) Marks in Tier-III, (d) Date of birth (older candidates placed higher), and (e) Alphabetical order of names.
How to Apply for Application
- Applications must be submitted online through the official MHA website (www.mha.gov.in) or the NCS portal (www.ncs.gov.in).
- Before applying, candidates should have a valid E-Mail ID, mobile number, and scanned copies of their recent passport-size photograph and signature.
- Complete Step-I (Registration) and Step-II (Application Form Completion, Document Upload, and Fee Payment) of the application process.
- Male candidates of UR, EWS, and OBC categories must pay an examination fee of ₹100 in addition to the recruitment processing charges of ₹550. All other candidates are required to pay only the recruitment processing charges of ₹550.

- After successful submission and payment, take a printout of the application form for future reference.
