General Selection Process
Selection Process – B.Sc. Nursing Admission 2025–26
The admission process for the 4-year B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course in Government and Private Nursing Colleges of Himachal Pradesh is centralized and managed by the Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU) on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The entire selection is based on an entrance test and conducted purely on merit-cum-choice basis.
1️⃣ Entrance Test
- A written test of 100 objective-type questions is conducted in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Nursing Aptitude, based on the NCERT syllabus of 10+2.
- Each question carries 1 mark, and there is no negative marking.
- The test is conducted in English, and candidates must use OMR sheets to mark answers with a blue/black ball pen.
- Admit cards are downloaded from the official website; they are not sent by post.
2️⃣ Result & Merit List
- Selection is based on the merit of the entrance test.
- Minimum qualifying percentiles: 50% (General), 40% (SC/ST/OBC), 45% (General-PwD), 40% (SC/ST/OBC-PwD).
- Candidates can challenge answer keys, which are reviewed by a Moderation Committee before the final result is declared.
- In case of a tie, ranks are decided by subject-wise marks (Biology > Chemistry > Physics > English > Nursing Aptitude). If still tied, the older candidate gets preference.
- Being on the merit list does not guarantee admission; eligibility verification and seat availability during counseling are mandatory.
3️⃣ Online Counselling & Seat Allotment
- The entire counselling process is online and managed by a Centralized Counselling Committee.
- No student can be admitted without a valid allocation letter from the university.
- Multiple rounds of counselling are held: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and possibly a Stray Vacancy Round.
- In each round, candidates fill choices for colleges/quotas, and seats are allocated based on merit-cum-choice.
- Upgradation is allowed in Round 2. Reserved seats that remain vacant may be converted to unreserved as per rules.
- In the final round, if State Quota seats remain unfilled, Non-Himachali candidates may be allotted these with State Quota fees, but only if Management Quota seats are exhausted.
4️⃣ Document Verification & Final Admission
- Final admission is subject to original document verification at the allotted college by a Scrutiny Committee.
- Incomplete or incorrect documents may result in rejection or cancellation of admission.
- Institutions are instructed to strictly follow the centralized process, and any violation can lead to disqualification.
