Step-by-Step Application Process for CRE-4
Applying for the CRE-4 examination is an online process. Follow these steps carefully to ensure your application is submitted successfully. Remember, no corrections will be allowed after the specified dates.
- Read the Official Notification: Before starting your application, thoroughly read the Official Detailed Recruitment Advertisement (PDF). Understand the eligibility criteria, post details, and instructions for each participating institute. This is your foundation for a successful application.
-
Visit the Official Website and Register:
- Go to the official AIIMS Examination website: www.aiimsexams.ac.in.
- If you are a new user, you will need to register by providing your basic details.
- If you are already registered, proceed to the login page: Login Here.
Why this step is critical: Incorrect registration details can lead to cancellation of your candidature. Ensure your name, date of birth, and other personal information match your official documents.
-
Fill Out the Application Form:
- Access the online application form and carefully fill in all required personal, educational, and experience details.
- Double-check every entry. The system generally does not allow corrections after the submission deadline.
Watch out for: Typos, incorrect category selection, and misrepresentation of academic scores. These are common errors that cause rejections.
-
Upload Required Documents:
- Upload scanned images of your photograph, signature, and left thumb impression.
- Refer to the 'Upload Image Instructions' on the official website for specific dimensions, file sizes, and formats. These instructions are usually found in the "General Links" section.
- Ensure that all uploaded images are clear and easily recognizable. Blurry or non-compliant images can lead to application rejection.
Generic tip: Keep image file sizes under 100KB and ensure good contrast, especially for signatures and thumb impressions.
-
Pay the Application Fee:
- Proceed to the fee payment section. You can pay through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Netbanking.
- The transaction/processing fee (if any) will be borne by the candidate.
- Fees are group-wise, meaning if you apply for multiple groups, you'll pay separately for each.
Remember: Application fees, once remitted, are generally non-refundable, even if your application is rejected due to ineligibility. However, fees for SC/ST candidates who appear in the examination will be refunded.
-
Final Submission and Print Confirmation:
- After successfully filling the form and paying the fee, submit your application.
- CRITICAL: Download and print a copy of your registration slip and save the e-receipt/proof of payment. These documents are vital for your records and for future reference, especially during document verification.
Keep these safe: No physical documents need to be sent, but you must retain these digital and physical copies as proof.
No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Government Employees:
If you are currently working in Government, Semi-Government, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, or any institution funded by the Government, you must obtain and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer. Failing to produce this at the time of Document Verification can lead to cancellation of your candidature.

CRE-4 Selection Process
The selection for Common Recruitment Examination-4 (CRE-4) is a multi-stage process designed to identify suitable candidates for various Group B and C posts.
Key Stages of Selection:
-
Computer Based Test (CBT):
- The primary basis for the merit list will be your performance in the CBT.
- If the CBT is conducted in multiple shifts, a normalization procedure (as detailed in Notice No. 35/2023 dated 20.01.2023, available on aiimsexams.ac.in) will be applied.
-
Skill Test (Stage-II - If Applicable):
- For posts where a Skill Test is required, it will be qualifying in nature.
- Only candidates who qualify the CBT will be called for the Skill Test.
- The final merit list for such posts will be prepared from among candidates who qualify the Skill Test, based on their CBT performance.
- Failure to appear for or qualify the Skill Test means you won't be considered for posts requiring it, but might be considered for posts not requiring it based on CBT merit.
-
Choice & Preference for Institutes/Organizations:
- After the declaration of qualified candidates, you will be invited to exercise your choices and indicate your order of preference for participating Institutes/Organizations.
- This step is crucial; if you fail to submit your choices within the specified period, you will not be considered for allocation to any institute.
- Detail Information on the allocation process will be published after the declaration of qualified candidates list.
-
Document Verification (DV):
- Provisionally qualified candidates will undergo document verification by the respective AIIMS/Institutes.
- You must produce all original certificates (along with one photocopy) as listed in the "Documents Required" tab.
- Failure to submit required documents or discrepancies can lead to cancellation of candidature.
-
Final Appointment:
- Allocation of seats will be based on merit and your choices.
- A seat allocation is provisional, based on the data you provided. You are mandatorily required to report for joining the allocated seat within the specified date.
- Success in the examination does not automatically guarantee appointment. Final appointment is subject to satisfactory inquiry, identity verification (including biometrics), and character/antecedents verification.
Resolution of Tie Cases:
In cases where multiple candidates score equal marks in the CBT, ties will be resolved using the following order of priority:
- Higher marks in the domain-specific part of the CBT.
- Fewer wrong answers / negative marks in the CBT.
- Higher marks in the general part of the CBT (if not resolved by point i).
- Using the date of birth (older candidate placed higher).
- Higher marks in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), if applicable (for Group Code 29 Fire Technician/Security Cum Fire Assistant).
- Using the First Name of candidate with First Alphabet (alphabetical order).
CRE-4: Expert Tips, Common Mistakes & FAQs
Navigating a competitive exam like CRE-4 can be tricky. Here’s some insider advice, pitfalls to avoid, and answers to common questions to boost your chances.
Preparation Tips for Success:
- Start Early & Understand the Blueprint: Don't just skim the notification. Read every section, especially eligibility, exam pattern, and syllabus, thoroughly. Create a study plan based on the weightage of sections (General Knowledge & Aptitude, Computer, and Domain Specific).
- Focus on Core Domain Knowledge: The majority of marks (80 out of 100 questions) are for your specific domain. Dedicate most of your study time here. Review fundamental concepts, and don't forget the practical aspects if your role is technical.
- Master Computer Basics & General Awareness: While domain-specific knowledge is key, don't ignore the 20 questions each for General Knowledge & Aptitude and Computer. Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, internet) is crucial, and current affairs for General Knowledge are important.
- Practice with Timed Mock Tests: The CBT has section-wise time limits. Practice answering questions within these strict limits. This will help you manage time effectively and avoid getting stuck on difficult questions.
- Hone Your Skill Test Abilities: If your chosen post requires a Skill Test (e.g., Typing, Stenography, Noting & Drafting), start practicing immediately. Consistency is key. For typing, focus on both speed and accuracy. For shorthand, regular dictation and transcription practice are a must.
- Maintain a Positive Mindset: These exams can be stressful. Stay motivated, take regular breaks, and ensure you're physically and mentally prepared on exam day.
Common Mistakes to Avoid:
-
Ignoring the Official Notification: Many candidates skip reading the full PDF, leading to misunderstandings about eligibility, required documents, or exam patterns.
Consequence: Your application might be rejected or candidature cancelled at a later stage, even if you perform well in the exam.
-
Late Application Submission: Waiting until the last day often results in server issues, slow internet, or payment gateway failures.
Consequence: You might miss the deadline and be unable to apply.
-
Incorrect or Blurry Document Uploads: Photos, signatures, and thumb impressions must meet exact specifications. Blurry images or those that don't match are a frequent cause of rejection.
Consequence: Application rejection during scrutiny. Always re-check the preview.
-
Failing to Obtain NOC (for Govt. Employees): If you are a government employee and don't have an NOC from your current employer, your application is at risk.
Consequence: Candidature cancellation at the document verification stage.
-
Not Understanding Negative Marking: Careless attempts without understanding the 1/4th negative marking can significantly reduce your total score.
Consequence: Lower scores, potentially falling below qualifying marks or merit cut-offs.
-
Ignoring Skill Test Preparation: Assuming the Skill Test is easy or less important than CBT can be a costly mistake.
Consequence: Even if you clear the CBT, failing the qualifying Skill Test will make you ineligible for posts requiring it.
-
Not Exercising Institute Preferences: After qualifying, candidates are asked to choose institutes. Not doing so, or doing it carelessly, can impact your final placement.
Consequence: You might not be considered for preferred institutes or any institute at all.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
- Q1: Can I apply for multiple posts under CRE-4?
- A1: Yes, you can apply for multiple posts/groups if you meet the eligibility criteria for each. However, you must fill a separate application form and pay the application fee separately for each group you apply to.
- Q2: What if I made a mistake in my application form?
- A2: The official notification clearly states that no corrections will be allowed after the specified dates (closing date of online registration). Therefore, you must fill your application very carefully. Minor, non-material errors might be overlooked, but significant mistakes can lead to rejection.
- Q3: Is there an interview for any of the CRE-4 posts?
- A3: The notification primarily mentions a Computer Based Test (CBT) and a Skill Test (where applicable). It does not explicitly mention an interview stage for the selection process. Selection is based on CBT performance and qualifying in the Skill Test.
- Q4: What is the crucial date for calculating age and eligibility?
- A4: The crucial date for determining eligibility in all respects (age, educational qualification, experience) is the closing date of online registration, which is December 02, 2025.
- Q5: Will the application fee be refunded if my application is rejected?
- A5: Generally, the application fee is non-refundable. However, for SC/ST candidates who *appear* in the examination, the fee will be refunded to their source account after the declaration of results.
- Q6: Can candidates from other states apply?
- A6: Yes, eligible Indian nationals from all states can apply. However, for reservation benefits, certain categories (like J&K domiciled) have specific relaxations. Otherwise, you would generally be considered under the Unreserved (UR) category.
- Q7: What happens if there's a tie in marks?
- A7: Ties are resolved by prioritizing: (1) higher marks in domain-specific part, (2) fewer negative marks, (3) higher marks in general part, (4) older age, (5) higher PET marks (if applicable), and (6) alphabetical order of first name.
- Q8: Where will the examination centers be located?
- A8: Examination centers will generally be in major States/UTs across India. AIIMS reserves the right to allot any city/state. If the number of applications for a group is less than 500, the exam for that group may be conducted only in Delhi/NCR.
