  • Online Registration Dates: 12 March 2025 to 10 April 2025. Any changes to these dates will be announced on the www.joinindianarmy.nic.in web portal.
  • Online Exam Dates: June 2025 onwards (tentatively). The firm dates for the online exam will be announced later on the www.joinindianarmy.nic.in website.
  • Effective Date for Determining Age Eligibility: 01 October 2025. Candidates must have been born between 01 October 2004 and 01 April 2008 (both days inclusive) to be eligible.

Total Number of Post


The recruitment notification from the Army Recruiting Office, Shimla does not explicitly state the total number of posts available for the Agniveer Intake for Recruiting Year 2025-26.

However, the notification mentions that in Phase II of the recruitment process, candidates will be shortlisted proportionate to the vacancies available by applying a cut-off in the written exam result. Common Eligibility Criteria

  • Agniveer (General Duty) (All Arms):
    • Must have passed Class 10th /Matric with 45% marks in aggregate of five basic subjects and a minimum of 33% marks in each of those five subjects.
    • For boards with a grading system, grades commensurate with the above percentages will be considered.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) Driving License for Driver requirements.
    • Age limit: 17½ – 21 Years.
  • Agniveer (Technical) (All Arms):
    • Must have passed 10+2/Intermediate Exam in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 40% in each subject.
    • OR Passed 10+2 /Intermediate Exam in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths & English from any recognized State Education Board or Central Education Board (including NIOS) and completed an ITI course of minimum one year in the required field with NSQF level 4 or above.
    • OR Passed 10th/Matric with 50% in aggregate and a minimum of 40% in English, Maths, and Science with 02 years of Technical Training from ITI or two/three years Diploma from a recognized educational institution (including polytechnics) in specific streams. These streams include: Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel, Electronic Mechanic, Technician Power Electronic Systems, Electrician, Fitter, Instrument Mechanic, Draughtsman (All types), Surveyor, Geo Informatics Assistant, Information and Communication Technology System Maintenance, Information Technology, Mechanic Cum Operator Electric Communication System, Vessel Navigator, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Auto Mobile Engineering, Computer Science/Computer Engineering, and Instrumentation Technology.
    • Age limit: 17½ – 21 Years.
  • Agniveer (Clerk / Store Keeper Technical):
    • Must have passed 10+2 / Intermediate Exam in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with 60% marks in aggregate and a minimum of 50% in each subject.
    • Securing 50% in English and Maths/Accounts/Book Keeping in Class XII is mandatory.
    • Age limit: 17½ – 21 Years.
  • Agniveer Tradesmen (All Arms) 10th pass:
    • Must be a Simple 10th pass (no stipulation in aggregate percentage but should have scored 33% in five basic subjects).
    • Age limit: 17 ½ – 21 Years.
  • Agniveer Tradesmen (All Arms) 8th pass:
    • Must be a Simple 8th pass (no stipulation in aggregate percentage but should have scored 33% in five basic subjects).
    • Age limit: 17 ½ – 21 Years.

Marital Status:

  • Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply as Agniveers.
  • They must undertake not to marry during the defined engagement period of four years.
  • Agniveers who marry during this period will be released from service.

Domicile:

  • Applications are invited from candidates who are domiciled in the districts/UT of Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, and Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh.

Other Important Points:

  • Candidates who have appeared in their Class 10th and Class 12th Board Exams and are awaiting their results are also eligible to apply, provided they fulfill all other qualification requirements. However, they will only be selected upon producing the original marksheet during Phase II of the recruitment process.
  • Agniveer candidates can apply for any TWO Categories based on their eligibility. They will need to fill out separate forms, appear for two Common Entrance Examinations, but will only undergo one/two Recruitment Rallies and one Medical Test based on the category with higher physical/medical standards. They will need to indicate their priority of categories during the application stage, and the final option will be asked after the recruitment rally.

General Selection Process


The selection process for the Agniveer Intake for Recruiting Year 2025-26 consists of two phases:

Phase I: Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE)

  • Candidates must first log in to www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, check their eligibility, and create a profile.
  • Online registration and submission of applications will take place from 12 March 2025 to 10 April 2025.
  • An examination fee of Rs 250/- per category of application is to be paid online.
  • Candidates will be required to appear for an Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE) at Computer Based Test Centres.
  • They need to download their Admit Card from www.joinindianarmy.nic.in (JIA).
  • Candidates must report to the exam center with a colour printout of the Admit Card and their Aadhaar Card as proof of identity.
  • Frisking, document checking, biometric capture, and other procedures will be conducted at the exam center.
  • The CEE will be an objective Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based test, conducted in 13 languages.
  • The duration and number of questions will vary based on the category of application (50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours).
  • There will be full marks for every correct answer and nil marks for unattempted questions.
  • For Agniveer Clerk /Store Keeper Technical, a typing test with a desirable speed of 30 words per minute in English will be conducted during the online CEE. Only those who qualify will be eligible for Phase II.
  • The marks scored in the Online CEE will be normalized to account for variations in difficulty levels across different sessions.
  • Candidates found using unfair means will be disqualified.

Phase II: Recruitment Rally

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Phase II proportionate to the vacancies available based on a cut-off applied to the written exam results.
  • The Roll Numbers of shortlisted candidates will be published on the Join Indian Army website.
  • These candidates will receive a second Admit Card for the Recruitment Rally, which can also be downloaded from their profile on the Join Indian Army web portal.
  • Shortlisted candidates must report on the stipulated date and time at the designated Recruitment Rally venue with original documents and two attested photocopies. These documents include Admit Card, photographs, education certificates, domicile/nativity certificate, caste certificate, religion certificate, police character certificate, school character certificate, general character certificate, unmarried certificate, relationship certificate (if applicable), NCC certificate (if applicable), sports certificate (if applicable), affidavit, PAN Card, and Aadhaar Card.
  • Phase II will consist of the following tests:
    • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): This includes a 1.6 km run, Beam (Pull Ups), 9 Ft Ditch, and Zig-Zag Balance. Marks are awarded for the 1.6 km run and pull-ups, while the ditch and balance are qualifying tests. The timings and marks for the 1.6 km run may be subject to change. Candidates for Agniveer Tech and Agniveer Clerk /Store Keeper Technical only need to qualify in all tests.
    • Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Physical measurements (height, weight, chest) will be taken as per region-based and category-wise standards. Relaxations are applicable with authorized supporting documents.
    • Adaptability Test: All candidates who qualify in the PFT and PMT will undergo an Adaptability Test to assess their suitability for the environment and challenges of the Indian Army. This test will be conducted on a Tablet / Mobile phone and will consist of question answers with no fixed syllabus. Candidates who do not qualify will not be allowed to participate further.
    • Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify in the PFT, PMT, and Adaptability Test will undergo a medical examination by an Army Medical Team at the Rally site as per Army Medical standards. Unfit candidates can be given an opportunity for a review by a specialist at a Military Hospital. The decision of the recruitment medical officer and specialist doctors is final. Passing the medical examination is not a guarantee of employment.
  • Final selection is based on merit depending on the available vacancies. Candidates do not have a right to claim recruitment merely by passing the recruitment process.
  • Final results will be declared on the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

How to Apply for Application


The process to apply for the Agniveer Intake for Recruiting Year 2025-26 is primarily online. Here are the steps on how to apply:

Online Registration and Profile Creation:

    • All candidates need to log in to the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
    • First, check your eligibility status based on the criteria for the desired Agniveer category.
    • Then, create your profile on the website.
    • During registration, you should fill in your Highest Educational Qualification and then, at the Application stage, the specific Education Qualification mandated for the category you are applying for.

Online Application Submission:

    • The online registration (submission of application) will commence from 12 March 2025 and will continue until 10 April 2025. Please note that these dates are subject to change, and any updates will be posted on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
    • Ensure that you fill the application form completely and accurately. Duplicate, incomplete, or erroneously filled applications will be rejected.

Payment of Examination Fee:

    • There is a non-refundable examination fee of Rs 250/- per category of application.
    • After successfully filling the application, you will be directed to the HDFC portal through a link on the website to make the payment.
    • You can pay the fee plus applicable bank charges through various online payment options available on the HDFC portal, including:
      • Payment Gateway Facility using Maestro, Master Card, VISA, Rupay Cards (both Credit & Debit) of all major Banks.
      • Internet banking of HDFC and other Banks.
      • UPI.

Important Instructions During Application:

    • You are required to have an active email address and mobile number, as these will be used for all future communication.
    • You must fill in your correct height (up to millimeter) as per the category you are applying for and the region-based physical measurement standards. You also need to indicate any special relaxations in height and weight as mentioned on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Providing wrong information or bogus certificates for relaxation can lead to cancellation of your candidature.
    • You need to indicate five choices of exam centers. While efforts will be made to allot a center based on your preference, it may be allotted elsewhere due to administrative reasons.
    • Requests for a change of exam center or date will not be entertained.
    • It is mandatory to enter your AADHAAR number in the online application.
    • Category-wise practice links for the online Common Entrance Exam are available on the JIA website. Candidates are advised to practice at least once.
    • Animated videos on ‘How to Register’ and ‘How to Appear for online Common Entrance Exam’ are available on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in (JIA).
    • You should upload only a recent photograph on the JIA website. If the photo does not match your face, you will not be allowed to appear for any test.
    • Details about required educational qualifications and physical/medical standards are available on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in (JIA) under the ‘Candidates login’ section and can be accessed without signing in.
    • Candidates who do not report for the test on the scheduled date and time will not be accommodated on other dates.

It is crucial to visit the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in for the latest updates and detailed instructions throughout the application process. The data you enter during registration will be final, and no changes will be permitted after the closure of the online application date. Entering wrong data will lead to disqualification.

  • The age limit for all Agniveer categories (General Duty, Technical, Clerk / Store Keeper Technical, and Tradesmen (10th & 8th pass)) is 17½ – 21 Years.
  • Candidates must have been born between 01 Oct 2004 to 01 April 2008 (both days inclusive) to be eligible to apply.
  • 01 October 2025 will be taken as the effective date for determining age eligibility.
  • Candidates are required to produce their Birth Certificate or 10th Class marksheet at the time of preliminary document check as proof of their date of birth.
  • Any change in date of birth in the AADHAAR card must be supported by Government authorized documents.
  • It is crucial that the Candidate’s Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, and Date of Birth (DOB) are entered exactly as per the Matriculation/10th Class Board Certificate.
  • Candidates found to be under age or overage will be disqualified.
